In a landmark decision that promises to reshape the future of women’s cricket in India, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a massive hike in domestic match fees for women cricketers. The move, approved just days before Christmas, has brought widespread cheer among players across the country 🎄✨.

📌 Decision Approved by Apex Council

The proposal was cleared during the BCCI Apex Council meeting on Monday, December 22, marking the biggest revision in women’s domestic match fees since 2021. Under the new structure, match fees have been increased by almost two and a half times, significantly improving financial security for women players.

💸 Revised Match Fees Structure

  • Senior Women (Playing XI):
    ₹20,000 ➡️ ₹50,000 per day

  • Senior Women (Reserves):
    ₹10,000 ➡️ ₹25,000 per day

Junior women cricketers have also benefitted from the decision:

  • Junior Women (Playing XI): ₹25,000 per day

  • Junior Women (Reserves): ₹12,500 per day

📉 For T20 matches, the fees will be half of ODI match fees, but even then, the increase is substantial compared to previous seasons.

📈 Big Financial Relief for Players

Until now, a senior woman cricketer earned around ₹2 lakh per domestic season, even if the team played only league-stage matches. With the revised structure, players’ seasonal earnings are expected to rise sharply, making cricket a more viable full-time career option for women.

🌍 Strengthening Women’s Cricket in India

The decision comes at a time when women’s cricket is rapidly gaining popularity in India and globally. Several progressive steps taken during Jay Shah’s tenure have already elevated the women’s game, and under the leadership of current BCCI President Mithun Manhas, the focus on long-term development continues.

⏳ Biggest Revision Since 2021

The last revision of women’s domestic match fees took place in 2021, when senior players’ fees were increased from ₹12,500 to ₹20,000. The latest hike is the largest ever, underlining BCCI’s serious and sustained commitment to women’s cricket.
