Mumbai batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi was discharged from hospital on Friday (December 26) after medical reports came back clear following a concussion scare during a Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Uttarakhand.
The 19-year-old, who is also part of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) setup in the IPL, suffered the injury while fielding in the 30th over of the second innings. Attempting a diving catch near the deep mid-wicket boundary, Raghuvanshi struck his head on the ground after a top-edged slog-sweep from Saurabh Rawat off Tanush Kotian’s bowling.
Mumbai teammates and medical staff rushed to assist him immediately. Raghuvanshi was stretchered off the field and taken to a nearby hospital for scans and further assessment. A brief delay in arranging the stretcher and ambulance added to the concern, as the youngster appeared visibly uncomfortable and had difficulty moving his neck.
Medical examinations later confirmed a concussion, but all reports were clear, allowing Raghuvanshi to be discharged. He is now said to be doing well, bringing relief to the Mumbai camp and IPL fans alike.
As per standard concussion protocols, Raghuvanshi will remain under observation, with a cautious approach expected before he makes his return to competitive cricket. The incident once again highlighted the risks involved in high-intensity fielding, even as the positive update eased fears around one of India’s promising young batters.
