Following their 0–2 loss to Sampdoria in a Serie B league match, eight of Salernitana’s players and thirteen technical staff members were hospitalized due to food sickness, which was a nightmarish scenario for the Italian football team.

In an effort to assist their players recover, the club, which is battling to avoid relegation, has now asked the organizers to postpone their upcoming game, which was originally set for Friday. Whether their request is granted is still up in the air. The good news is that all 21 members have gone home following hospital treatment; according to the Italian newspaper La Gazetta, they were given a prescription for “pharmacological therapy” and a few days of rest.
“Reports state that there were horrific scenes on board, with numerous people battling severe pain. Four ambulances and private automobiles transported the twenty-one members to the hospitals in Salerno and Battipaglia when they arrived at the Salerno-Costa d’Amalfi airport, according to La Gazzetta.
The Genoan state police looked into the incident at the hotel where the team was staying the following day. According to reports, the hotel administration informed them that the team nutritionist’s recommendations were followed in preparing the takeout lunch. The police are looking at how the food’s ingredients get tainted.
“This occurred after the first leg of the playout match against Sampdoria yesterday, and resulted in a series of illnesses felt during the return journey from Genoa,” the club said in a statement today. When the group arrived at Salerno Costa d’Amalfi airport, the situation necessitated the use of ambulances, and many of the individuals involved were subsequently admitted to the hospital.
As a result, US Salernitana 1919 declares that it has formally requested that the LNPB postpone the match against Sampdoria, which is currently set for Friday, June 20, pending investigative feedback on the incident. In the hopes that their plea to postpone their next game will be granted, Salernitana has sent the League the medical documents of its members.
