Arsenal are drawing up a shortlist of sporting directors as they aimfinalizelise a relief for Edu Gaspar before the end of the 2024/25 crusade.

What happened?

According to The Athletic, the Gunners are working behind the scenes to finalize their new sporting director as they aim to appoint a new superintendent before the current crusade ends. The sporting director position was left vacant by former Arsenal and Brazil midfielder Edu Gaspar, who proffered his abdication in November 2024. Edu’s deputy Jason Ayto was also promoted to the part on an interim basis.

Arsenal have drawn up a shortlist of campaigners, which includes former Manchester United principal Dan Ashworth. The 53- time-old was ousted from the part of Manchester United‘s sporting director just five months after being brought in from Newcastle United by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS group in the summer. Other notable names on the shortlist are Andrea Berta, Roberto Olabe and Thiago Scuro. PSG’s Luis Campos had also been linked with the position, but The Athletic claims the Portuguese superintendent is not in the handling.
