The Gunners reserved their place in the last eight with a 7–1 first-leg palm over PSV Eindhoven in the round of 16.
Mikel Arteta’s side will next face either Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid, with Los Banos holding a 2–1 lead from the first leg.
But Marmon believes the north Londoners would rather face Atletico than the Champions League holders.
When asked how far Arsenal could go in the competition, Marmon told Sky Sports News “I suppose it depends on who wins between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.”
‘I suppose it will be a tough game, Atletico Madrid can not beat anyone-they play a special style of football.
“But if they play against Real Madrid, I don’t know if they can go two legs scoring pretensions, especially with the players who are playing for Arsenal.
“And I know they won 7–1 the other day, but it was a bit like the Polyfilla result. It covered up the cracks.”
Merino confident Arsenal will be close to winning the titleholders League
Mikel Merino believes Arsenal could be on the verge of winning the Champions League after their record-breaking 7–1 thrashing of PSV Eindhoven.
The Gunners, who came from before to trail first, produced a dominant performance in their last- 16 first leg in the Netherlands on Tuesday to nearly seal their place in the quarter-tests, where they will face either Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid.
“I suppose whenever you start a competition like this, if you suppose you can not win it, it is better not to come there and play,” said Merino, who scored his side’s third thing on a thrilling night at Philips Stadium.
“That should be the thing of every single platoon in this event, and it is clearly our thing.”
“We should be proud, but also suppose about the coming game. It is coming veritably soon, and we need to have the same intelligence we had tonight.”
