Famous footballer Sol Campbell, former captain of the Gland football team, was given a grand welcome when he arrived at Kolkata airport on Wednesday evening. Campbell said, it is a pleasure for him to come here.
Being from England, he knows India through cricket, but he has also heard that Kolkata is also famous for its sports loving people. Campbell is the international event ambassador for this year’s Tata Steel World 25K race.
Campbell, who played 73 matches for England as a centre-back, said, “As a player, I am happy to be in the city of sports lovers. Also, I am happy to be a part of the Tata Steel World 25 Kolkata. This is a race that brings together communities and is working towards healthy and active living.”
