Mustafizur Rahman

After Pakistan, Bangladesh could become the second team to play the 2026 T20 World Cup at neutral venues, following growing tensions between the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

🔴 BCB Unhappy Over Mustafizur Rahman Issue

The BCB is reportedly unhappy with the BCCI’s decision to release Mustafizur Rahman from Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for the IPL 2026, a move that has created friction between the two boards. Mustafizur is a key player for Bangladesh, and his availability during a crucial period remains a major concern.

🏏 World Cup Matches Under Question

The 2026 ICC T20 World Cup, scheduled to be held in India and Sri Lanka in February, could now face scheduling challenges. According to reports, the BCB is considering requesting the ICC to reschedule Bangladesh’s matches, especially those slated to be played in India.

Three World Cup matches are currently scheduled to take place in Kolkata on February 7, 9, and 14, but Bangladesh may push for a venue change if the situation does not improve.

🌍 Neutral Venues a Real Possibility

Similar to Pakistan’s stance in previous ICC events, Bangladesh may opt to play its matches at neutral venues if its concerns are not addressed. The BCB is keen to hold discussions with the ICC at the earliest to find a suitable solution.

⏳ What’s Next?

With the World Cup fast approaching, the ICC could soon be forced to intervene to prevent further complications. Any decision regarding venue changes could have a significant impact on the tournament schedule.
