The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) has suspended four players with immediate effect following allegations of their involvement in corrupt practices linked to cricket activities. The suspension was announced through an official ACA press release on December 12.
The players — Amit Sinha, Ishan Ahmed, Aman Tripathi, and Abhishek Thakuri — have represented Assam at various stages in domestic cricket. They are accused of attempting to influence and instigate members of the current Assam squad that participated in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2025 held in Lucknow from November 26 to December 8.
BCCI’s ACSU Conducts Enquiry; Criminal Proceedings Initiated
Upon the emergence of the allegations, the BCCI’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) launched a formal enquiry into the matter. The ACA, acting on preliminary findings that suggest serious misconduct, has also initiated criminal proceedings. An FIR has been filed at the Crime Branch, Guwahati, against all four accused players.
The ACA stated that the suspensions were enforced to prevent any further escalation and preserve the integrity of the sport.
What the Suspension Means
During the suspension period, the players are prohibited from:

Participating in any state-level tournaments or matches under the ACA

Representing district units or affiliated clubs

Taking part in any cricket-related roles, including coaching, umpiring, or serving as match referees
The suspensions will remain in effect until the investigation is completed or until further directives are issued by the ACA.
The Association has instructed all district units to ensure strict compliance and to inform clubs and academies under their jurisdiction.
