jasprit bumrah

India is going to start the World Test Championship 2025-27 through the Test series against England starting from June 20, and most eyes will be on Jasprit Bumrah in this series.

Bumrah has a golden opportunity to break two big records on this tour. He can not only equal Wasim Akram but also become the first Asian bowler to complete 150 Test wickets in SENA countries.

Team India is going to enter a new round of the World Test Championship with a five-match Test series against England. This time Shubman Gill is leading the team and Rishabh Pant has been made his deputy. Two new faces have also been included in the team – left-arm fast bowler Arshdeep Singh and young batsman Sai Sudarshan. Both were seen in great form in the recently concluded IPL.

However, the biggest discussion in this entire series is about Jasprit Bumrah, who is on the verge of breaking not one but two big records on this tour. If Bumrah takes just one more wicket, he will equal Wasim Akram’s record of 146 Test wickets in SENA countries. Currently, Bumrah has 145 wickets in 31 matches.

Not only this, if Bumrah gets a total of 5 wickets on this tour, he will become the first Asian bowler to take 150 Test wickets in SENA countries. This is a record that has not been touched by any Indian, Pakistani or Sri Lankan fast bowler till now.

However, there is a concern. Bumrah suffered a back injury in the last Test of the Australia tour and since then his fitness is being monitored. Coach Gautam Gambhir himself has said that Bumrah may not play all five Tests and he will be fielded in only three matches.

Now it remains to be seen whether Bumrah creates history in the limited opportunities he gets or not. But one thing is certain that if he regains his form, then the problems for the English batsmen are sure to increase.
