West Indies all-rounder Laurie Williams died in a road accident on 8 September 2002 at the age of 33. Born in Jamaica, Williams made his first-class cricket debut in 1990. The car accident took place near Portmore, Kingston, in which his half-brother was also killed. Sports Minister Portia Simpson Miller said, “I am shocked. Laurie represented the West Indies with integrity.”
