Gautam Gambhir took over as the head coach of the Indian team in July last year. He came to the post at a time when India won the T20 World Cup title during Dravid’s tenure. Rohit and Virat had retired from T20 International and the Indian team was going through a phase of change in this format. Gambhir started his tenure with the Sri Lanka tour, where the team had to play three T20 and as many ODI matches.
