Mohun Bagan Super Giants managed to acquire new players ahead of the forthcoming domestic season, which begins with the League Cup next month, after FIFA removed its transfer limitation on them on Tuesday.
On May 5, the player was charged with a transfer restriction due to a financial dispute with Central Coast Mariners, an A-League team that used to house Australian forward Jason Cummings, who was once a member of Mohun Bagan.
In response to this argument, the club promptly sent a 107-page dossier to FIFA, answered their questions, and the FIFA disciplinary committee subsequently rescinded the penalty against the current ISL champions.
Two queries were posed to Mohun Bagan after he handed FIFA a 107-page a report. The punishment was ultimately lifted by a letter from the disciplinary committee,” an association official told PTI.
However, because the summer transfer window opened last week on June 9, the club had plenty of time to strengthen their roster for the next ISL season, so the ban had no effect on them.
The club also recently had a shift in leadership, with Srinjoy Bose taking over as General Secretary and Debasish Dutta taking over as President.
Mohun Bagan has high hopes for the continental tournament, which they had to miss out on last time because of an AFC ban, in addition to striving for the local title this season.
Mohun Bagan was fined by the AFC and disqualified from the AFC Champions League-2 last year for the team’s decision to skip a league game in Iran due to Middle East security concerns.
