Jasprit Bumrah Confirm Will Play First Test:
India and England’s five-Test series is set to start in Leeds on June 20. India has not been able to beat England in a Test series at their home since 2007.
In such a situation, this will be a big opportunity for the youth brigade, which is ready to start a new era of the Indian Test team under the leadership of Shubman Gill. During this time, the hopes of the Indian team will rest on Jasprit Bumrah, who is the most senior player of the team. Bumrah will not play all the matches during this entire series, because it has already been made clear that Bumrah will not play all the matches of the series. However, it is not yet clear which matches of the series Bumrah will play, but Boom-Boom himself has given a statement regarding whether he will be seen playing in the first match of the series.
When Bumrah was asked what advice Gautam Gambhir, who took over the captaincy of Team India last year, gives to the bowlers in his free time, what kind of conversation does he have with them, Boom-Boom said, “He doesn’t have a big conversation, he doesn’t have a big meeting, but he will have one-on-one conversations with those people where he feels he wants to intervene or who feels you know people are going in this direction and he has a few words of advice.”
Bumrah further said, “I think he is handling a different phase. It is an interesting phase in Indian cricket because two tours ago our team was completely different, right now it is moving towards a change. So obviously it is a change. Interesting phase and you need to have a lot more patience and a lot more calm. He is trying to maintain a happy atmosphere, it will be a lot of pressure.”
In an interview with Dinesh Karthik on Sky Sports, Bumrah discussed how he manages his workload. During this, he has made it clear that he will be seen playing in the first match of the series. The first (Test) is definitely on. Yes, it is going to happen. The rest, we see how things are. What is the workload, and what the equations are going on. Three Test matches are what I can manage at the moment, and I do not want to be in a hopeless situation.”
When Jasprit Bumrah was asked about advising Shubman Gill, he said, “In my experience I think you have to give freedom and you have to be there for him. I don’t want to jump into it and if I see something, I will tell him.
Bumrah further said about Gill, “Obviously he has a thinking, he is young and energetic, so he wants this and it should be so. Whenever he comes to me, whenever he has discussed it with me, I am always there to support him and whatever he needs from me, I am very happy to give it to him.”
