In the IPL 2026 mini auction, young Sri Lankan fast bowler Mathisha Pathirana was bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders for ₹18 crore (approximately $1.8 billion). Starting at a base price of ₹2 crore (approximately $20 million), bidding was held between the Delhi Capitals and the Lucknow Super Giants. Ultimately, KKR won the bid. Previously, Pathirana was part of CSK, but CSK showed no interest in him. Pathirana played for CSK for three seasons.
