Bayern Munich master Vincent Kompany has ruled out the possibility of Harry Kane facing a long-term absence after suffering an injury against Celtic.
WHAT CAME ABOUT?
Kane came off at half-time in their titleholders League play-off alternate leg against Celtic in midweek with a shin complaint. Now, director Kompany has said this is a” short-term situation” for the 31-year-old, without stating if he will miss any Bayern matches.
WHAT VINCENT KOMPANY SAID?
He told journalists, via Sky Germany: “We will see.
It is good that we are not talking about two, three, four weeks but about a short-term situation. We will have to stay and see.
We can no longer replace Harry(Kane) one-to-one. There aren’t numerous players who score 40 or 50 goals in the season. We will try to find the stylish result to win the game.”
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Kane is a crucial player for Bayern, with the England captain scoring a whopping 73 points in 76 appearances for the German titans.
Getting him back fit will be crucial to their chances of winning flatware this season after a trophyless 2023/24 crusade.
WHAT NEXT?
Kane’s Bayern take on Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga on Sunday autumn as they try to extend their lead at the top of the table.
