Former India captain Kapil Dev has reiterated that wearing the national jersey should remain the ultimate priority for any cricketer, even as the influence of franchise leagues like the IPL continues to grow.
Speaking at an event in Delhi, Kapil said that representing India is the highest honour, but acknowledged that individual players may view priorities differently in the modern era.
He noted that the rise of franchise cricket has affected player availability and scheduling, adding that the changing landscape of the sport means players often have to make difficult choices.
Kapil Dev also spoke about the growing popularity of golf in India, appreciating the increased number of tournaments and the enthusiasm shown by young athletes.
