former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin has called for the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) to be dissolved and for a thorough investigation to be conducted.
His demand comes in the wake of the arrest of HCA president A. Jagan Mohan Rao by the CID in connection with an IPL ticketing scandal.
HCA president Jagan Mohan Rao was taken into custody on Wednesday in connection with the investigation into the ticket scam. He was arrested following a report by the Vigilance and Enforcement Wing, which detailed alleged misconduct within the HCA and was submitted to the Telangana state government.
Telangana Government Orders Probe into HCA Following Allegations By SRH
The Telangana government ordered an inquiry into the Hyderabad Cricket Association after Sunrisers Hyderabad accused the body of misconduct. The investigation revealed significant irregularities and recommended
disciplinary action against the HCA leadership.
The conflict began when the HCA locked corporate boxes at the stadium, pressuring Sunrisers Hyderabad to provide additional free tickets. Although the franchise was already offering 10% of tickets as per standard norms, HCA officials allegedly demanded an extra 10%.
When Sunrisers Hyderabad refused, the HCA president and secretary reportedly retaliated by creating logistical hurdles. The issue was resolved only after the franchise handed over the requested tickets. Notably, SRH had even threatened to relocate the IPL franchise to another city.
