CB: The cricket world is going through a phase of change. Slowly the era of legends is ending and not only new players but also new captains are being seen. Now one board has appointed three different captains for three formats.
The board announced the new captain for ODIs. Bangladesh Cricket Board has given the command of the team to the best all-rounder Mehdi Hasan Miraz in ODI format. Liton Das will be the captain of the team in T20 while Nazmul will be the captain in Tests.
When will you get command?
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has appointed all-rounder Mehdi Hasan Miraz as the captain of the men’s One Day International (ODI) team for the next 12 months. 27-year-old Miraz will lead the team from the three-match ODI series in Sri Lanka next month and will replace Mehdi Hasan MirazShanto. Miraz, who has performed well with both bat and ball, has already experienced leadership responsibilities. He has captained Bangladesh in four ODIs in Shanto’s absence.
What did Miraj say?
After the announcement, Miraz said, ‘Captaining the national team is like a dream come true. I am extremely honoured by the trust the board has shown in me. It is a proud moment for me and my family. I have full faith in this group. We have the skills and mindset to play fearless cricket. I want us to stay confident, committed and keep playing with all our heart for the country.’
How is ODI career?
Currently ranked fourth among ODI all-rounders in the ICC rankings, Miraz has amassed 1617 runs and 110 wickets in 105 ODIs. He has joined an elite club of Bangladeshi players who have completed the double of 1000 runs and 100 wickets in ODIs along with legends like Mohammad Rafiq, Mashrafe Mortaza and Shakib Al Hasan.
