New Delhi. Sri Lanka’s star all-rounder Dasun Shanaka has landed in a different kind of trouble. This trouble is for him for playing two tournaments in two countries on the same day. It is alleged that Dasun Shanaka left the domestic match in Sri Lanka midway and flew to Dubai and then participated in the ILT20 there on the same day.
Sri Lanka Cricket Board has started investigation on this matter.
Former Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka played different tournaments in two countries on February 2. He first scored a century in a first-class match for Sinhalese Sports Club in Sri Lanka. The entire team was all out shortly after he was out after scoring 123 runs. After this, the match was played for about two sessions. Sinhalese Sports Club bowled 46 overs during this time. Dasun Shanaka did not come on the field during fielding. A few hours later, he was seen playing in the International League T20 (ILT20) in Dubai. He scored 34 runs in 12 balls for Dubai Capitals in ILT20.
Now it has come to light that Dasun Shanaka left the match without informing the Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) or his Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC). After this, the Sri Lanka Cricket Board has started an investigation against him. The domestic cricket club Sinhalese Sports Club is also investigating Shanaka. The club says that it was not aware that Shanaka had left the match and gone to Dubai.
It is said that Dasun Shanaka suffered a head injury during his century innings. The doctor had advised him to rest. Another player came on the field in his place as a concussion substitute. But the question has arisen that how the player who was advised to rest due to a serious injury played in another country just 4 hours later. After returning to Dubai, Shanaka played three more matches including the final for Dubai Capitals.
