In the recent third Test match between England and India at the legendary Lord’s Cricket Ground, India’s wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma was barred from entering the venue by a security personnel who failed to recognize him. The occurrence, captured by a spectator, has gone viral. Fortunately, Jitesh received help from fellow cricketer and commentator Dinesh Karthik. The 31-year-old, attempting to enter the stadium amid a bustling crowd, was halted at the entrance, with security personnel demanding identification. Despite his attempts to clarify his identity, he was not granted entry. The situation intensified as fans began to identify Jitesh, even while he struggled to get in. Fortunately, former Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik, now a commentator, came to his aid during the commotion. After the video gained traction online, Karthik himself shared the clip, clarifying that the incident occurred outside the commentary box and not at the venue’s entrance. Significantly, Karthik had invited Jitesh to join him and other commentators. He also noted that social media often distorts the reality. “These are some challenges with social media that many encounter I invited Jitesh to the commentary box, he arrived, and I met him downstairs and took him to the commentary box where he greeted everyone. By the way, this is beneath the media center, not the main entrance to the venue,” Karthik stated on X.

Additionally, he remains active in ODIs, where he has amassed over 14,000 runs, including 51 centuries. He continues to be a pivotal figure for the national team.
