New Delhi Tigers defeated Central Delhi Kings by nine wickets by Duckworth-Lewis method in a rain-affected Delhi Premier League (DPL) match here on Sunday.
Central Delhi Kings posted a competitive 167 for eight in 19 overs but could not bat for 20 overs due to rain interruption for the second time during this innings.
New Delhi Tigers got a revised target of 69 runs in six overs by Duckworth-Lewis method, which they achieved easily by losing one wicket on the basis of team captain Himmat Singh’s unbeaten innings of 45 runs in 19 balls. Himmat Singh started the innings with Shivam Gupta and adopted an aggressive approach from the beginning.
They played big shots all around the field and made a partnership of 58 runs in 4.2 overs for the first wicket. Gupta’s contribution in this partnership was just eight runs. After this, Vaibhav Rawal, who came to bat, scored unbeaten runs in three balls and ensured an easy victory. Earlier, captain Jonty Sidhu played an aggressive innings of 75 runs in 37 balls for Delhi Kings.
He shared a 53-run partnership with Yugal Saini (20 off 21 balls) after the team lost two wickets for 59 runs. However, Pankaj Jaiswal shook the middle order after dismissing Sindhu, which helped Central Delhi to win the toss.
