In 2014, on the 50th birthday of Andrew Symes, who was volunteering at Edgbaston, Dhoni gifted him an Indian team jersey. Dhoni said ‘it was a special honour to be called into the dressing room and handed over the Indian jersey’. Symes has been volunteering at stadiums since 2009. The incident happened after the Nottingham ODI, where the players were tasked with arranging food due to rain.
