Ceremony held ahead of IND vs SA 2nd T20I
Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh and India women’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur received a special honour on Thursday as two stands at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur were officially named after them.
The inauguration took place just before the second T20I between India and South Africa, marking a historic moment for the newly built venue.
🎖️ Big Names Attend Ceremony
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann felicitated both cricketing icons during the event. Newly appointed BCCI President Mithun Manhas also attended, along with members of the India women’s support staff.
Harmanpreet’s World Cup–winning teammates Harleen Deol and Amanjot Kaur, as well as fielding coach Munish Bali, were present to celebrate the occasion.
Following the inauguration, the Punjab government announced cash rewards:

₹11 lakh each for Harmanpreet, Harleen, and Amanjot

🏆 Recognising Champions
Harmanpreet Kaur recently led India to their first-ever Women’s ODI World Cup title, delivering standout performances throughout her fifth World Cup campaign.
Yuvraj Singh—one of India’s biggest match-winners—played crucial roles in India’s triumphs at the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup, where he was named Player of the Tournament.
🏟️ Historic Match for the Venue
The Mullanpur stadium is hosting a men’s international match for the first time, adding significance to the evening’s ceremony.
India entered the match with confidence after a dominant win in Cuttack, where Hardik Pandya smashed a rapid half-century and the bowlers routed South Africa for just 74, securing a massive 101-run victory in the series opener.
