36 – Claypofootballle vs. Victoriano Arenas
In 2011, in the rough-and-tumble world of Argentina’s Primera D, Claypole faced their bitter neighbours Victoriano Arenas in a match that began like any other lower-league fixture. The early minutes passed without major incident, but the fierce rivalry was simmering beneath the surface. By the time the half-time whistle sounded, two players had already been sent off.
The second half barely got underway before everything unravelled. Reckless, flying tackles triggered a chain reaction of dismissals, and soon the situation escalated into a full-blown melee. Players, substitutes, coaching staff, and even supporters who had jumped from the terraces all became part of one enormous fight on the pitch.
When referee Damián Rubino finally regained some control, he decided the only solution was to dismiss everyone still involved. His match report recorded an unbelievable 36 red cards, a figure that wiped out both teams and their entire benches by the final whistle.
